Search tips
- To search in a subset of topics, click in the search field and select a filter.
- To search for a specific word or phrase, add quotation marks around it (example: "budget column") in the search field.
- To remove highlighting on the search terms in a topic, click .
- To search within a topic, click , press Ctrl+F, and enter the search term.
Notices to comply
These records are documented proof that the contractors were informed that they were in violation of project rules, contract documents, or any documents that instruct them to perform the work in a specific manner. This proof may be admissible in court.
A door was installed incorrectly, so it swings in the wrong direction. You create a notice to comply that asks the contractor to remove the door and reinstall it correctly.
- In the project menu, click Records > Notices to Comply.
Create a basic record in the Create panel, or create a record with detailed information in the full form.
- Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*) but aren't enforced for draft records.
- If autonumbering is off, the Number field is editable until the record is saved with a non-draft status. If autonumbering is on, the number is assigned after the record is saved with a non-draft status.
- If the right-side panel is closed in the Notices to Comply module, click info (Information) on the navigation toolbar.
- On the navigation toolbar, click add_circle (Create).
- In the Create panel, enter the record details.
- To change the workflow status, select an option from the list.
- To add a location, click the Location field, select a parent or child location, and then click Apply.
- To add an assignment, click Add in the Assigned To section, select the name, and then set a due date.
- To add a courtesy copy, click Add in the Courtesy Copies section, and then select the name.
- In the comments field, enter a comment, and click link (Links) to link items.
- Click Save or Save + Add Another.
You can open the full record to enter additional details, link items to it, and share it with other people.
- On the navigation toolbar, click add_circle (Create).
- To open the full form, click aspect_ratio (Expand).
- In the Subject field at the top-left, enter the subject.
- In the Information panel, enter the record details.
- To change the workflow status, select an option from the list.
- To add a location, click the Location field, select a parent or child location, and then click Apply.
- To add an assignment, click Add in the Assigned To section, select the name, and then set a due date.
- To add a courtesy copy, click Add in the Courtesy Copies section, and then select the name.
- In the Subject field, enter the subject of the record.
- On the Comments tab, enter a comment, click link (Links) to link items, and then click (Send).
- To set who has access to the record, click group (Sharing), and then select an option.
- To link an item to the record, click link (Links), click add (Add), and then select the item type.
- To save the changes and keep the record open, click save (Save).
When you click (Send) to add the comment to a new record, the record is saved.

To save the changes and close the record, click arrow_back Done.
You can add comments in the record or add them by replying to an assignment notification. If the notification setting is on, record participants receive an email when new comments are added.
Links and attachments added to the record are also listed under the Comments tab. These types of comments do not have accompanying text. Therefore, participants will not receive a notification when these are added and will not be able to promote or demote these types of comments.
- On the Comments tab or in the Information panel, enter your comment in the field.
- Link an item to the comment.
- To upload and link a file, click (Upload File), and then drag or browse to the file.
- To link to a drawing, click (Drawing), and then select a drawing.
- To link to other types of items, click (Add Links), and then select the item type and item.
- To add the comment as the answer or resolution, turn on the Log as the Answer or Log as the Resolution toggle.
- Click (Send).
- New comments that are added to the record in the last 60 minutes are batched together into a single email.
- If comments have been added to more than one record, record participants will receive email notifications for each record. Participants include the author, assignees, and courtesy copy recipients, as well as individual contacts and contacts of companies that are listed in any standard record fields.
- Your comments are not included in the email notification.
- If the comment only contains a linked item but no text in the message, a notification is not sent.
To resize the comments field, click and drag the edge of the field.
This toggle is only available for collaborative record types if you have permission to add an answer.
Record participants are notified via email that you added a new comment to the record.
Linked items appear on the appropriate tab of the Links panel. After the record is saved, the linked items appear in the activity stream on the Comments tab.
If you link an uploaded photo or a photo from the File Library, the photo also becomes available in the Photos module. After the linked photo is processed, it's displayed in the photo viewer when you open it from the record.
- If you link a Microsoft Office file (.xlsx, .xls, .docx, .doc, .pptx, .ppt, .vsdx), you must save the record before you can open the linked file.
- You can't upload and link .exe, .dll, .js, .php, .aspx, .html, .htm, and .svg files.
- In the Links panel, click add (Add Links).
- Click Drawings.
- Set which drawings are visible in the list.
- To show the current versions of the drawings, turn the Revision toggle off.
- To show the specific revisions, turn the Revision toggle on.
- Select the checkbox for one or more drawings.
- Click Done.
- To exclude the linked drawing from system-generated notifications and from the list of attachments that can be embedded in reports in the Print Report dialog, turn off the Include in email and reports toggle in the Links panel.
To link to a drawing set, click Records > Drawing Set in the Add Link popover.
If you link a current version, the link always points to the current published version and is updated when a new revision is published.
If you link a specific revision, the link always points to the selected revision.
If the email notification includes a report with links, the linked drawing is still included in the report.
- In the Links panel, click add (Add Links).
- Click Specifications.
- To link the current version of a published spec section, select the checkbox for one or more spec sections.
- Click Done.
To link to a specification set, click Records > Specification Set in the Add Link popover.
- In the Links panel, click add (Add Links).
- Click Records, and then select the record type.
- Create a record, and link to it.
- Click Done.
- If you link to or from a checklist, the link goes to the selected revision, even if another revision is created later.
- If you link to a new transmittal or correspondence, you can include a report for this record.
- If you don't have the feature permission for future daily reports, you can only create daily reports for today's date, based on the timezone in your profile, or earlier.
Record types are made available for linking in the settings.

Select the checkbox for one or more existing records.
- In the Links panel, click add (Add Links).
- Upload and link a file.
- To exclude the linked file from system-generated notifications and from the list of attachments that can be embedded in reports in the Print Report dialog, turn off the Include in email and reports toggle in the Links panel.

Select a file from the File Library.
If the email notification includes a report with links, the linked file is still included in the report.
- In the Links panel, click add (Add Links).
- Click Connect Model View.
- Select a Trimble Connect project.
- Select a model view.
- In the Links panel, click add (Add Links).
- Click Web Link.
- Enter the description and the URL, and then click Done.
You can export notices to comply to an Excel file where you can edit them and create new ones. Then you can import the file, which can only be used once, back into ProjectSight. If there are any errors, you can review and fix them in a new Excel file.
- Record permissions, field permissions, and workflow status permissions are checked when you export notices to comply to an Excel file and when you import the file into ProjectSight.
- In the Excel file, required fields are light red, and read-only fields are light blue.
- To avoid an import error, make sure you enter information in the Resolution field if the Date Resolved and Resolved By fields contain information.
- The Excel file can only be imported into the project that it was exported from.
When you import the Excel file back into ProjectSight:
- If new values were entered after this spreadsheet was exported, your edits are flagged.
- Blank rows and fields are ignored.
- If a non-draft workflow status is selected, and a required field is invalid or empty, the new record remains a draft.
- The Resolution, Date Resolved, and Resolved By fields are updated in the record. If the Date Resolved and Resolved By fields are empty in the Excel file and in the record, the current user and time stamp are used.
- In the Notices to Comply module, filter the records that will be exported to Excel.
- In the Search panel, set the filters.
- To export specific notices to comply, select their checkboxes. If none are selected, all the notices to comply are exported.
- In the list view, add and rearrange the columns, and then save the custom view.
- On the navigation toolbar, click (Import/Export) > Export to Excel.
- Open the Excel file.
- On the Notices to Comply tab, enter the notice to comply details in a new row.
- Edit any existing notices to comply.
- Save the Excel file.
- In ProjectSight, open the Notices to Comply module.
- On the navigation toolbar, click (Import/Export) > Update from Excel.
- Select the Excel file to import.
The Excel file will display the columns for the fields in the list view followed by the remaining fields.
The Excel file contains the required fields and the fields that you have permission to view.
You can copy and paste unlocked cells.
- In the import error message, click Review Errors.
- Review the Feedback column and fix the associated errors.
- Save the Excel file.
- In ProjectSight, open the Notices to Comply module.
- On the navigation toolbar, click (Import/Export) > Update from Excel.
- Select the Excel file to import.
The notices to comply with errors are exported to a new Excel file.
