Field attributes
- Open the record settings.
- Click the item type.
- On the settings menu, click Field Attributes.
In ProjectSight, system-required and custom-required fields are available.
System-required fields:
- Are set automatically and can't be changed.
- Are editable in drawing sets and records with the Draft workflow status. After the item is saved in a non-draft status, field permissions are enforced.
- Are validated when the drawing set or record is saved in a non-draft workflow status.
Custom-required fields:
- Are set in the field attributes and can be changed.
- Are affected by field permissions regardless of the workflow status.
- Are validated when the drawing set or record is saved in a non-draft status by a user with the Modify permission.
A record can be created with an incomplete custom-required field if the record author doesn't have the Modify permission for the field or if the field is available only in the full form. When that record is edited in the full form by a user with the Modify permission, the field must be completed before any new changes are saved.
In the field attributes for RFIs, you make Location a custom-required field.
User A has the Modify permission for the Location field and the system-required fields. When this user creates a non-draft RFI:
- The Location field and the system-required fields are editable.
- The record is saved if the Location field and the system-required fields are completed.
User B has the View permission for the Location field and the system-required fields. When this user creates a non-draft RFI:
- The system-required fields are editable.
- The Location field is read-only.
- The record is saved if the system-required fields are completed.
- After the record is saved in a non-draft workflow status, the system-required fields are read-only.
- When User A, who has the Modify permission for the required fields, edits the record, the Location field must be completed before the record is saved.
The field attribute settings contain the fields that can be edited.
