Search tips
- To search in a subset of topics, click in the search field and select a filter.
- To search for a specific word or phrase, add quotation marks around it (example: "budget column") in the search field.
- To remove highlighting on the search terms in a topic, click .
- To search within a topic, click , press Ctrl+F, and enter the search term.
File Library
For selected users, Trimble Connect is used instead of the File Library as the file management system.
The File Library contains your project files.
- In the project menu, click Files > Library.
- If the Search panel is closed, click (Search) on the navigation toolbar.
- Set the filters.
- While the right-side panel is open, click the file or folder in the content area.
- While the right-side panel is open, click the file in the content area.
- On the navigation toolbar, click link (Links).
The Links panel only shows the items that you have access to.
- Open the file or folder properties in the Information panel.
- In the Link section, click Copy.
- If ProjectSight doesn't have access to your clipboard, the entire hyperlink text is selected automatically. Then you can use keyboard shortcuts to copy and paste it.
- The recipient must have the related permissions to view or edit the file or folder.
The link is copied to your clipboard and is ready to be shared. For example, you can paste the link in an email.
- In the tile view, double-click the file or folder.

In the list view, close the right-side panel, and then click the file or folder.
—Or—
On the file, click more_horiz (More) > View.
If your browser supports the file type, the file opens in the browser.
You can add a folder or upload a file to the current folder. The current folder is highlighted in the navigation tree.
Design Drawings is the current folder, so its files and folders are displayed in the content area.
You can't upload .exe, .dll, .js, .php, .aspx, .html, .htm, and .svg files.
- On the navigation toolbar, click add_circle (Add) > Add Folder.
- Enter a name for the folder, and then click Create.
- On the navigation toolbar, click add_circle (Add) > Upload Files.
- Drag files from your computer to the Uploading Files dialog.

Click Browse, and select the files.
You can edit the name and description of the file or folder. You can also add annotations to PDFs in the PDF viewer.
- If the file is linked to a locked record, the file becomes read-only.
- If you edit a linked photo in the photo viewer, the changes are synced to the photo in the File Library. However, edits to the photo in the File Library aren't synced to the photo in the Photos module.
- In the Information panel, by the name, click edit (Edit).
- Edit the name, and then click outside of the field.
- In the Information panel, below the file thumbnail, click edit (Edit).
- Edit the description, and then click outside of the field.
- On the file or folder, click more_horiz (More) > Move.
- Select the new folder, and then click check (Save).
—Or—
Select the checkboxes for multiple files, and then click input (Move) on the navigation toolbar.
If the file or folder is set to use the permissions of the parent folder, its permissions are updated automatically to match the new parent folder.
In the Information panel, the Permissions section displays the existing permissions for the current file or folder:
- View: Users can view and download files or open folders.
- Edit: Users can edit and move files or folders.
The permission order of precedence is the individual, then the security role group, and then the All Users group. If a permission isn't specified at one level, the next level is applied.
Andi Lee is a part of the Collaborator group, which has the Edit permission. However, as an individual, she has the View permission. Therefore, she can only view and not edit the file.
If her name were removed from the Permissions list, she would have the Edit permission as part of the Collaborator group.
The administrator and the owner always have full permission.
- Select the Use parent folder permissions checkbox.
The permissions are replaced by those of the parent folder.
- Clear the Use parent folder permissions checkbox.
- Select the Editor may change permissions checkbox.
Users with the Edit permission can change the permissions for the file or folder.
- Clear the Use parent folder permissions checkbox.
- In the Permissions section, click Edit.
- Select the checkbox for the user.
- In user's row, select one of the following:
- Edit: Edit permission.
- View: Read-only permission.
- Click OK.
A contact card is added to the Permissions section.
- On the contact card, click more_horiz (More), and then select the permission.

In the Permissions section, click Edit, and then edit the permissions.
- On the contact card, click more_horiz (More) > Remove.
You can download files to your computer.
- In the current folder, select the checkbox for each file.
- On the navigation toolbar, click (Download).
Alternatively, you can click more_horiz (More) > Download on the file.
You can only delete files that aren't linked to another item such as a record or drawing.
- Select the checkbox for one or more files.
- Click more_horiz (More) > Delete Selected Files.
Alternatively, you can click more_horiz (More) > Remove on the file.
- On the folder, click more_horiz (More) > Remove.
