TC1 version
Title block
In the Information panel of the drawing set, you can select how the title block is processed to retrieve specific drawing details and set the default values for new drawings.
If you want to edit the information after the drawings are uploaded, you can export the drawing details to Excel and then upload the edited file into ProjectSight.
- The Title, Discipline, Location, Author, and custom fields are copied over from the current version if the values aren't added in the Title Block Processing dialog.
- If the date format of your browser language doesn't match the date format in the uploaded drawing, the drawing date isn't recognized. To fix this, you can change your browser language before you upload drawings.
The Values for New Drawings section of the Information panel contains the default values that are applied to unpublished drawings. You can also set the default values in the Title Block Processing dialog, which updates the Information panel.
If you set the default values in the Information panel, they're only applied to drawings that are uploaded after they're set. To apply them to previously uploaded drawings, you can redefine the regions in the Title Block Processing dialog and then scan the unpublished drawings.
If you select this option, the number, title, revision date, and discipline are taken from defined regions in the drawing. Each unpublished drawing in the set is processed to get the information from the same regions.
The number is taken from this region in each drawing of the drawing set.
By default, text extraction is used to find the information in a text format. If the information isn't in a text format, optical character recognition (OCR) is used to find digital images of the text. In the Title Block Processing dialog, you can also turn on the OCR toggle to always use OCR instead of text extraction.
- The file name is used instead of the defined region for the number and title if the information can't be found.
- If the discipline from the drawing isn't available in the lookup list, the field is left empty. You can add the new discipline in the lookup list settings, and then redefine the regions to update the unpublished drawings.
- If the revision date isn't found, the field is left empty, but you can enter the date in the grid.
Depending on the PDF, the results in the drawing set may not reflect the information that you're looking for. To get the most accurate results, the following PDF types are recommended in this order:
- Vector drawings with searchable text
- Raster drawings with identical title block locations
- Open the drawing set.
- If the drawing set has multiple drawings, select the checkboxes for the unpublished drawings that will be rescanned for title block processing.
- In the Information panel, in the Title Block Processing section, select Auto-Detect Highlighted Regions.
- In the Title Block Processing dialog, select which drawings will be rescanned, and then click Next.
- In the Title Block Processing dialog, pan across the drawing so that the number, title, revision date, and discipline are visible.
- To use optical character recognition (OCR) instead of text extraction, turn on the OCR toggle.
- In the Number field, click crop_free (Highlight), and then highlight the region in the drawing.
- In the Title field, click crop_free (Highlight), and then highlight the region in the drawing.
- In the Rev. Date field, select a date, or click crop_free (Highlight), and then highlight the region in the drawing.
- In the Discipline field, select a discipline, or click crop_free (Highlight), and then highlight the region in the drawing.
- Select a default value in the Group, Status, Location, and Author fields.
- To scan the unpublished drawings, click Next.
—Or—
If Auto-Detect Highlighted Regions is already selected, click Highlight Regions.
The Only Selected and New Drawings in this Drawing Set option is available only if you selected some drawings in the grid first.
OCR is also used automatically if nothing is found through text extraction.
In the Values for New Drawings section of the Information panel, the default values are updated to match your selections from the Title Block Processing dialog. If a field contains Detect, the value comes from a title block region.
If you select this option, the number and title are taken from the file name. The suggested format is DrawingNumber-Title.pdf. The text before the hyphen (-) is the number, and the text between the hyphen and the extension is the title. If a file name doesn't contain a hyphen, the entire file name is used for both the number and the title.
For multi-page .pdf files that contain a hyphen in the file name, each page is uploaded as a separate drawing with the same number. These drawings are flagged as duplicates, but you can edit the numbers.
You upload a three-page file called A1-FloorPlan.pdf. Each drawing has the same number as the others and is flagged as a duplicate.
- If you change from the auto-detection option to the file name option, make sure you save the drawing set before uploading more drawings.
- The default values in the Values for New Drawings section in the Information panel are applied to the uploaded drawings.
- Make sure the drawing file names have this format: DrawingNumber-Title.pdf.
- In the Information panel of the drawing set, select Use File Name.
- Upload the drawings into the drawing set.
