Publishing
You can publish the approved drawings in a drawing set so they're available in the Drawings module. Text-based callouts in the newly published drawings are hyperlinked to the matching published drawings.
After you click Publish Drawings in a drawing set, the statuses are updated for drawings that are published successfully.
Before publishing: Status |
Before publishing: Publish As value |
After publishing: Status |
---|---|---|
Approved | First Version | Current |
Approved | New Current Version | Current* |
Approved | Not Current | Not Current |
* The status of the previous current version in the drawing series changes to Not Current.
Drawings can't be unpublished, but you can:
When the drawings are published, notifications are sent to either all project contacts or only drawing set participants. Participants include the author, assignees, courtesy copy recipients, and commenters. Depending on whether the users are project contacts or drawing set participants, notifications are sent during different intervals.
- Each user can turn off notifications for published drawings.
- A second notification isn't sent when the hyperlinking process is completed.
Only drawings with the Approved status are published.
- On the Drawings tab, in the Status cell for the drawing, select Approved or Rejected.
—Or—
Open the drawing, and then select Approved or Rejected from the Status list.
Alternatively, you can approve or reject multiple drawings using the Excel import sheet.
- If a current version is already published for this drawing series, change the Publish As column:
- New Current Version: The drawing is published as the current version with the Current status.
- Not Current: The drawing is published as an old revision with the Not Current status.
- In the Information panel, click Publish Drawings.
- In the confirmation dialog, select who will be notified and then click Publish.
If you publish a new revision, annotations and links are copied from the previous current version to this one, which is now the current version. If the current version is smaller than the previous revision, the annotations may not appear in the correct locations. However, their linked items are still accessible in the Links panel.
After a drawing is published, you can change its status.
- In the Status column for a drawing, select Current.
- Save the drawing set.
The status for the previous current version is changed automatically to Not Current.
- In the Status column, select Obsolete.
- Save the drawing set.
The drawing remains published but is no longer visible in the Drawings module or for linking. If this drawing was the current version, the status of the previous revision, based on the revision date, changes automatically to Current.
If you change the status back to Current or Not Current, any previous links to this drawing are restored.
