TC1 version
Measurements
- Measurements in ProjectSight are approximations only.
- This feature is only supported in the ProjectSight web app.
- Turn on snapping to help you draw measurement annotations.
- Calibrate the drawing to set your default scale for measurement annotations.
- Draw the measurement annotation on the drawing.
- Edit the scale for the measurement annotation.
- Link an item to the measurement annotation.
If snapping is on while you draw a measurement annotation, the lines are moved automatically to the nearest point or line in the drawing. If you move or resize that annotation, snapping is no longer applied.
Drawing a measurement annotation when snapping is on
To temporarily turn off snapping, you can press the Shift key as you draw the measurement annotation. You can only draw lines at a 0, 45, or 90 degree angle, but you can adjust the annotation afterward.
Pressing the Shift key while drawing a measurement annotation
Snapping isn't supported in raster drawings.
Before you add your first measurement annotation, you must calibrate the drawing to set the default scale. The calibration is personal to each user.
The calibration applies to new measurement annotations and carries forward to new revisions. If you recalibrate the drawing, existing annotations and previous revisions aren't affected by the new default scale. For each annotation, you can also change its scale, which doesn't affect the drawing calibration.
Calibrating the drawing for the first time
- On the Annotation toolbar, click (Measurement) > (Calibrate).
- Click the drawing and draw a line.
- Adjust the length and position of the line.
- In the Calibrate dialog, enter the value, and select the unit of measurement.
- Click Set.
The value must be greater than zero.
The calibration is set, and the calibration line is removed.
You can add annotations to measure distances, perimeters, and areas.
Snapping can affect how the annotations are drawn.
- If your calibration isn't set yet, calibrate the drawing.
- Click (Measurement), and then select a tool.
- To draw the annotation, do one of the following:
- (Distance): Click the drawing and draw the line.
- (Perimeter): Draw the first line and then add the connected lines.
- (Area): Draw the first side and then add the other sides.
- Edit the annotation.
- Link an item to the annotation.
If your calibration is already set, the measurement tools are available in the Annotation toolbar.
You can also recalibrate the drawing at any time.
- Click the measurement annotation.
- On the Annotation menu, click Style.
- In the Scale section, edit the values.
- From the Precision list, select the number of decimal points for the measurement.
