Links

After you add an annotation in a drawing, you can link it to an item. The Links panel displays the items that are linked to the annotations and to the drawing itself. Depending on the linked item, the link is one-way (only appears in the originating item) or two-way (appears in the originating item and the linked item).

If a record is linked, a label with the record type and number is displayed below the annotation.
  • A: Action items
  • C: Checklists
  • DR: Daily reports
  • FWD: Field work directives
  • I: Issues
  • NC: Notices to comply
  • P: Punch items
  • RFI: Requests for information
  • SN: Safety notices
  • S: Submittals
  • On the navigation toolbar, click link (Links).
  • In the Links panel, in the Search field, enter the search terms.

    • On each tab, the search terms apply to the file name, record number, and subject. The tab numbers are updated according to the search results.

  1. In the Links panel, click the item.
  2. If the item is linked to multiple annotations, select a name in the popover.

    3. The annotation is highlighted in the drawing.

  • Click the annotation, and then click open_in_new (Open) on the item.

    In the Links panel, click the item.

    • If the item is linked to one visible annotation, the annotation is highlighted, and you can click the item on the Annotation menu.
    • If the item is linked to multiple visible annotations, you can select a name in the popover and then click the item on the Annotation menu.
    • If the item isn't linked to any visible annotations, the item opens immediately.
    If you open a series of linked items and then close the current one, the original item is displayed.

    You open a series of linked items:

    1. From Drawing A, you open Record 1.
    2. From Record 1, you open Record 2.
    3. From Record 2, you open Drawing B.

    When you close Drawing B, the original item (Drawing A) is displayed.

Multiple annotations can link to the same item, but an annotation can link to only one item at a time. To link to a different item, unlink the original item first.

In the Links panel, you can also link items to the drawing itself.

  1. Click the annotation, and then click Link on the Annotation menu.
  2. Click Camera and then take a photo or video with your iPad camera.

    3. —Or—

    Click Camera Roll, and then select an existing photo or video.

  3. On the File page, edit the description and name.
  4. ClosedIf you took or selected a photo, add annotations to it.
    1. At the top-right of the File page, click Annotate icon (Annotate).
    2. To zoom in, click Zoom icon (Zoom), touch the screen, and then stretch your fingers away from each other.
    3. Draw on the photo.
      1. Click Zoom icon (Zoom) > Draw icon (Draw).
      2. To change the line color, click Color icon (Color).
      3. To change the line thickness, click Line icon (Line).
      4. Draw on the photo.
    4. Add text to the photo.
      1. Click Zoom icon (Zoom) > Text icon (Text).
      2. To change the text color, click Color icon (Color).
      3. Click the photo.
      4. To set the font size, click Small, Medium, or Large on the keyboard shortcut bar.

      5. Enter the text.

        6. To move the text, click the photo again.

      6. Click Done on the keyboard shortcut bar.

        7. The text can't be modified, but you can click Undo to remove it.

    5. Click save (Save).
  5. To close the File page, click arrow_back Done.

    6. After you sync your data, the file is uploaded to the quick upload folder that's named in the record settings.

  1. Click the annotation, and then click Link on the Annotation menu.
  2. Click Library, and select the file from the File Library.
  3. To close the File page, click arrow_back Done.
  1. Click the annotation, and then click Link on the Annotation menu.
  2. Click Drawings, and then select the drawing series.

    3. Revisions with same group and number values belong to the same drawing series.

  3. Select the current version or a specific revision from the drawing series.
    • Current version: The link always points to the current published version and is updated when a new revision is published.
    • Specific revision: The link always points to the selected revision.

    A drawing can't link to its own revisions.

  1. Click the annotation, and then click Link on the Annotation menu.
  2. Click Records, and then select the record type.
  3. ClosedCreate a record, and link to it.
    1. Click Create.

      2. The Create option is available only if you have permission to create this record type.

    2. Enter the record details, and then click arrow_back Done.

    —Or—

    Select an existing record from the list.

    • An annotation automatically becomes public after it's linked to a record.
    • If you link to or from a checklist, the link goes to the selected revision, even if another revision is created later.
  1. Click the annotation, and then click Link on the Annotation menu.
  2. Click Web.
  3. Enter the description and the URL, and then click Done.

To view linked items, download them to ProjectSight for iPad while you're working online.

  • Click the item, and then click Yes.

You can remove a linked item from the drawing in the following ways:

  • Remove the item from the Links panel. The link is removed, but the item remains in ProjectSight.
  • Remove the item from an annotation. The link is only removed from that annotation. If the item is linked to other annotations or to the drawing itself, it remains in the Links panel.
  • Delete the linked item from ProjectSight. The item no longer appears in the Links panel of any drawing that it was linked to.
  1. In the Links panel, click add (Add Link).

    2. The Pending list appears at the bottom of the Add Link popover.

  2. To the right of the item, click delete (Remove).
  • In the Links panel, on the linked item, click more_horiz (More) > Remove.

    In the drawing, click Unlink on the Annotation menu.
