We recommend the following configurations to ensure the best experience when new RFIs are created using the default assignee by discipline function.

Security role

Select the Modify permission to allow the user to override default assignees, or clear the Modify, Create, and Remove permissions to block the user from overriding assignments. Navigate to Security Roles > [Role Name] > Records > Document Control > RFI.

Discipline lookup list

Configure the Discipline lookup list before defining the default assignees to ensure the discipline list is accurate. Navigate to Lookup Lists > Discipline.

Default assignee for unassigned discipline

Select a default assignee for unassigned disciplines. For example, if a new discipline is configured and an assignee is not assigned, this default assignee will be used. Navigate to Record Settings > RFIs > Default Assignees > Configure Assignees > Discipline.

Field attributes

Ensure default assignees are applied to new RFIs by making the Discipline field required. Navigate to Record Settings > RFIs > Field Attributes.
